Where is my mind?

Today I engaged in some soap photography (aka soapy porn) for my Etsy shop and I couldn’t help but chuckle at how humorously absurd I am sometimes. Here I am, freshly moved into my new apartment, the neighbors don’t know who the heck I am and I’m on my porch wearing Mrs. Roper’s muumuu (I prefer moo-moo); a knit shawl complete with a large bejeweled medallion; dancing around to Sinatra, the Beach Boys and Ray Charles; and over-enthusiastically taking photos of soap, of all things, like Austin Powers. Yeah, baby! Yes! Yes! No! No! People must think I’ve completely lost it. Which makes me wonder, was Chuck Palahniuk thinking of me when he created Tyler Durden’s character in Fight Club? I mean we are eerily similar and growing more so by the day. We are both snazzy dressers, soap makers and off our rockers.  Just pondering the likeness…soap 016 soap 017 soap 018

I’m Back!

As of this Monday, I will be back in the Hudson Valley and ready to rock! That means my Etsy shop(s) will be reopening soon, I will be off hiatus with the HV Etsy Team, and I will be back at the Saugerties Farmers Market every Saturday starting August 10th. So mark your calendars because good times are afoot! In the meantime, enjoy these photos that the uber-talented Nancy from Draped in Jewelry took at our last event in Fishkill. Also, if you weren’t aware that I even left you for two months…well I did. Check out my other blog to see what I was up to.

Busy weekend-ish-ness

It’s a bright and busy day here at the Saugerties Farmers Market. The conditions are the exact opposite from last weeks cold, wind & rain. I can’t complain today, except that my tent broke on me and I forgot my phone & wallet back home. Duh! Luckily, Cassie found my purse, figured I would want it and delivered it to me. Thank you! It took five people to help me set up my tent. Yikes! I have to set it up again tomorrow so that leaves me a wee bit worried. But these mini-disasters come with the territory.

Tomorrow is a very promising craft fair in Fishkill. Most of the Hudson Valley Etsy Team will be vending so it will be great to actually meet my team-mates in person. It should be a fantastic event but being surrounded by such talented crafters may prove too tempting for me. We shall see if my resolve remains intacted through the event. Come visit if you can and talk me out of making any purchases!

This will be my last weekend vending until August so if you need anything, please make it a point to find me. In the meantime, while I’m out being chased by bears, you can visit the stores that sell my products.

My mom, Ling Ling, will be selling her scarves in Fishkill. Even more reason to visit tomorrow!
